Surviving the 2026 Reading Test: Multi-Part Questions and Screen Fatigue

It's an Endurance Sport The Reading test gives you 45 minutes to answer roughly 30 questions. But there's a catch: the new format uses multi-part questions. This means one long text might have 6 or 7 questions attached to it, or you might have to compare two different texts to find an answer.

The "Cloze" Passage Challenge A common question type is the "Cloze" passage—a text with words missing. You have to pick the right word from a dropdown menu. Tip: Don't just look at the sentence with the gap. Read the sentence before and after. The clue is usually hidden in the context (e.g., is the author happy or angry? Is the text formal or slang?).

The Digital Scroll Reading on a computer screen is harder than reading on paper. Your eyes get tired, and you can lose your place. Strategy: Use the "Highlighter" tool in the exam software. As you read, highlight names, dates, and strong adjectives. This creates "anchors" for your eyes so you can find information quickly when you answer the questions.
